Sparring is one of those things so many women feel nervous about… usually because you worry about getting hurt or you’re scared of hurting your sparring partner. But sparring doesn’t have to be full power or aggressive. It’s literally just a chance to practice the technique you learned in the session, work on your timing and defence. And when you’re surrounded by the right people like people you trust you realise it can actually be fun and light hearted!! Some of the girls on the retreat had never even trained Muay Thai before and said they wouldn’t spar but by day two they were laughing and having fun with it!! If you’re unsure or nervous the best thing you can do is communicate. Agree on a level you’re both comfortable with and after round one just check in with your partner!!
