A skin exam is not always just about looking at the skin. I recently saw a patient with a history of melanoma from over a decade ago. During the exam, I checked his lymph nodes and felt a lump that ultimately turned out to be metastatic melanoma. It was a reminder that follow up after melanoma can involve more than just looking at moles or scars.
