Once all the milk and eggs are mixed together, pour the mixture back into the pot and heat over medium heat. 5. Stir the custard constantly until it starts to thicken, then pour it over the set caramel. Place the tin in an oven tray and carefully place it in an oven heated to 140°C (284°F). Pour water into the tray until it reaches halfway up the sides of the tin. Optionally, you can use a blow torch to remove any bubbles on the top. 6. Bake the creme caramel for 40 minutes, then remove it from the oven and let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Allow it to set for at least 3 hours, but preferably overnight. 7.
