Don’t throw out your old ceiling fan just because it’s not working properly—fix it instead! Here’s how to replace the light pull switch motor in your ceiling fan. Tools and Materials Needed: - Screwdriver (more than likely Phillips) - Replacement light pull switch motor - Nuts- Wire connectors (if needed) - Ladder - Safety goggles -scissors or knife (if needed) Step 1: Turn Off Power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker. Step 2: Remove the Light Kit box. Locate the screws securing the light box to the fan. These are usually found on the underside of the light fixture. Unscrew the light kit box from the fan and gently pull it away to expose the wiring. Step 3: Disconnect the Wiring Take a photo of the wiring configuration for reference (optional but recommended). Disconnect the wires that’s connecting the light pull switch motor to the fan. Typically, you will find two wires connected to the pull switch motor. One wire connected to the lights, the other wire connected to the power source. Unscrew the motor from its housing. Depending on the design, it may be held in place by screws or clips. Step 4: Install the New Light Pull Switch Motor Position the new light pull switch motor** in the same location as the old one. Reconnect the wiring according to the configuration you documented. Typically, the black wire connects to the black wire, never connect black wires to white wires. Step 5: Reattach the Light Kit box Carefully tuck the wires back into the light kit housing. Align the light kit with the fan and reattach it using the screws you removed earlier. Ensure everything is secure and properly fitted. Step 6: Restore Power Test the ceiling fan to ensure the new light pull switch motor is functioning correctly. Safety Reminder: If at any point you feel uncomfortable or unsure about working with electrical components, it’s best to consult a professional electrician. #repairs #repairceilingfan #aprilsunrisefarm #girlsfixstufftoo #howto
