I’m over the AI jobs panic. So over it I write 6,000 words about it lol—and yes it’s free if you want a Saturday long read I’m over the constant headlines that scream “AI is coming for your job!” It’s exhausting to see the fear-mongering and clickbait around every tech wave, but I’ve learned something from history that changes the narrative. When I look back at NASA’s human computers—trailblazers like Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan—I see a powerful lesson. They weren’t rendered obsolete when digital technology emerged; instead, they adapted, upskilled, and took on higher-level, strategic roles. Their evolution shows that when technology automates the mundane, it actually elevates our uniquely human strengths. In my own career, I’ve witnessed roles shift dramatically. Titles I once held, like E-Commerce Manager and Conversion Optimization Manager, have faded away as automation redefined what those jobs really entail. This isn’t a sign of doom—it’s a signal to focus on what only we can do: be creative, think strategically, and bring empathy to the table. I believe AI should be seen as a tool that frees us up to innovate, not a threat that strips us of purpose. I’m sharing this because I want to encourage a mindset shift—from panic to empowerment. By breaking down our roles into specific tasks, we can pinpoint which parts are ripe for automation and which parts demand our human touch. Let’s audit our skills, embrace new tools, and focus on growing in areas that technology can’t replace. I’m here to remind you that every tech wave transforms work, not eliminates it.
