@weekendhiker: Hiking the Pen y Fan horseshoe / 15km / 4 hours / 795m ascent 🏴 My backpack on this hike was the Quechua MH900 from Decathlon. It is 25L, weighs only 970g, is comfortable, easily adjustable and has loads of great features [ad] Starting at the Neuadd car park (approximate postcode CF48 2UT ///rollover.kingpin.gems), hike north to the old pump house at the Neuadd reservoir. Make your way left to the reservoir, go through a gate and ascend towards the ridge. Once you reach the top, turn left and after 100m bag the trig. Then head back and follow the ridge for about 4km until Corn Du comes into view. Carry on to Pen y Fan, the highest peak in south Britain. A steep descent from Pen y Fan will take you on to the path up to Cribyn. At the cairn on Cribyn, turn right and follow the ridge along the back of Cribyn. Fan y Big is your last peak and there is an option to bypass it should you want to. Head back down to Gap Road which will take you through the Neuadd valley and back to the car park. #breconbeacons #bannaubrycheiniog #visitwales #penyfan #hillwalking #southwales

This looks fairly safe/standard hike - do you think it’s easy enough with a dog?

Is this the same route as on AllTrails? As on the photos on there no first trig photos. Unless they are all missing it. Great advice!

Unfortunately, when you get to the top of Pen Y Fan, you'll be greeted by people drinking and playing music. Never been on a less peaceful summit.

I walked up it at 4am 2 hours after leaving the pub. Spewed a couple times fueled up on jack daniels and redbull. Good sunrise though 😂
