Happy C-Section Awareness Month!! At my 38-week appointment, I expected the usual check-in. Instead, I was told my placenta was beginning to calcify, my baby boy wasn’t practicing breathing in the womb, and I was basically the poster child for preeclampsia. What was supposed to be a routine appointment turned into a very real and urgent medical situation. I was induced and began what would become a three-day labor. By the third day, I had only made it to 7 centimeters. Exhausted and in pain, I finally got an epidural, and eventually reached 10 centimeters. It was time to push. I pushed for five intense hours. His head was almost out when suddenly, everything changed. I started bleeding alot. My baby’s heart rate was dropping fast. Within minutes, the room was swarming with doctors and nurses. I was being rushed into an emergency C-section. During the procedure, they discovered that the right side of my uterus had collapsed. I ended up needing stitches in three different places. I was overwhelmed, terrified, and just trying to hold on until I could hear my baby cry. Recovery? Brutal. C-sections are major abdominal surgery, something that doesn’t always get talked about enough. You don’t just bounce back. It’s painful, it's exhausting, and it's emotional. Your body is healing from surgery while also adjusting to life as a new mom. What makes it even more complicated is how common this actually is. In the U.S., about 1 in 3 births (32.1%) are via C-section. Many of those are unplanned or emergency procedures like mine. Inductions especially those done early due to medical issues often increase the likelihood of needing a C-section, especially when labor doesn't progress naturally or complications arise. This wasn’t the story I imagined. It wasn’t what I hoped for. But it’s my story. And I’m proud of what my body endured to bring my son into this world safely. To any other mom who has gone through something similar you’re not alone. Your story matters. Your strength is unmatched. #csectiondelivery #csectionmom #csectionrecovery #birth #postpartum #postpartumrecovery #emergency #emergencycsection #firsttimemom #pregnancy #pregnant #preeclampsia #fypシ
