Do you experience jaw pain, TMJ disorder, or just an achy face? Well the muscles of the neck can actually pull on the jaw producing jaw issues and if we can’t get you into an improved posture, we can’t start the healing process. A common mistake I see people make when they try to stand up straight is by bending from the lumbar spine or lower back, compared to extending through the upper back, which is very important in standing. When it comes to head, neck and jaw pain, the entire key to allowing your head and jaw to be in a better position, is the positioning of your upper back… now yes, it is impacted by your lower back and hips but the most immediate pressing issue is making sure you can extend through the upper back without compensating through the lower back . Have you noticed that when you look up or even to the side, you experience pressure into the top of your shoulder or the back of your shoulder or even up into your head similar to a headache? Or maybe it’s just really uncomfortable to look up or you just feel like there’s a lot of pressure going on in there.
