❤ Ingredients 5 cups water (250 ml per cup). 1½ cups white sugar. ¾ cup brown sugar. ⅓ cup cornstarch. ¼ small cup rose water, adjustable to taste. 1.5 g saffron. 1 tablespoon ground cardamom. ¾ cup ghee. Nuts of your choice, as desired. Instructions In a pot over medium heat, combine 3 cups of water with the white and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. In a separate bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining 2 cups of cold water, stirring until smooth and lump-free. Gradually pour the cornstarch mixture into the pot while stirring continuously, until the mixture begins to thicken. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Add the rose water, saffron, and ground cardamom. Continue stirring to distribute the flavors evenly. Keep cooking and stirring until the halwa reaches the desired thick, glossy consistency. The total cooking time may be around 25–30 minutes, depending on the pot and heat level. About 5 minutes before the end of cooking, gradually add the ghee, stirring until fully incorporated. Stir in the nuts of your choice, then transfer the halwa to a serving dish. Garnish with extra nuts and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy your homemade Omani halwa! ❤
