Two of our favorite ways to grow, vertical gardening and hydroponic. Both combined into a single pot. It’s called Vertplanter. We love the design and functionality, it’s very unique. You can use it for sprouting seeds such as chia, alfalfa, and wheatgrass. It’s great for growing houseplants like orchids, ferns, saxifraga stolonifera and many others. Because the pot has the right amount of porosity, when filled with water it is slowly diffused through the material to the cells on the surface for the plant to drink. To grow microgreen sprouts on the Vertplanter, you’ll need to soak the seeds in water for it to attached onto the surface. Use a misting spray until the seeds start to sprout and form roots. The texture of the pot allows the roots to grip the surface. Seeds contain stored nutrients so it’s not necessary to feed the sprouts since harvest is usually within 1-2 weeks. Microgreen sprouts are nutritious and contains vitamins and minerals and this is a beautiful and mess free way to grow them. Top off with water when water level drops, place near a bright window and rotate the planter daily for even growth. Lastly, you can get creative with this when it comes to growing houseplants. We’ve added the Vertplanter link in our bio for more info. Classic Vertplanter is available and Lift Vertplanter will be release by mid May-June @Vertplanter #daily #gardening #microgreens #hydroponic #vertplanter #hydroponicplanter #selfwateringplanter #diyplanter #diyhangingplanter

This is old school but still an economic way to build a trellis for peas, cucumbers and several other vining plants. Twine is versatile and inexpensive which makes it ideal for the garden. You can use it for trellis, tie up plants like tomatoes and many more. Jute is a good choice, but we went with 100% cotton butcher twine which is natural, stronger and is biodegradable. You can also use this in the kitchen. A roll of 200’ • 60m cost me less than $5 and it’s thick and strong. A lot stronger the Jute. #gardentok #gardening #tips #garden #gardenproject #trellis #oldschool

It’s okay to get excited for Spring because there are plenty of ways to get an early start when it comes to growing your food. We decided to start our herb garden outdoors early and here’s how we set ours up: - Planted herbs that can handle cooler weather. Herbs like oregano, parsley, chives, mint, cilantro, thyme, sage, lemon balm, feverfew, marjoram and winter savory. - Went with Fairfield Elevated Garden Bed by MAYNE which comes with a built in water-reservoir and double wall to regulate soil temperature. - Added a DIY greenhouse cover to protect herbs from unexpected frost and colder nights. - To save on the cost of filling the garden bed, we use free materials from our garden such as twigs, small branches, dried up leaves, grass and compost. - Before we start to dig into the soil, we like to plan the spacing and organize the plant's final planting spot. It helps visually. - Our deck is the perfect location because it is closely positioned to our kitchen. Something to consider when choosing a spot for your herb garden. There are tons of benefits to growing your own herb garden. Firstly, they are beneficial in the garden for repelling unwanted pests. Most importantly, Herbs are essential in the kitchen for adding flavor to many sweet and savory dishes. Nothing beats homegrown fresh herbs! Link in the bio for more info on the MAYNE elevated garden bed. #herbs #garden #gardening #growfood #greenthumb #containergardening #raisedbeds #herbgarden #gardentok
