The way this is suchhh a layered topic it’s really hard to express my thoughts concisely but in addition to what has already been said, there are so many other things I think about like - Why are we so triggered by the term “church hurt” and why does it often seem to be those who have either been the ones to inflict it or have never actually experienced it themselves? To me accurately terming experiences is like diagnosing an illness so that appropriate treatment could be applied. I think about the woman with the issue of blood or the man with leprosy. If we were never meant to use labels, perhaps those two cases would have simply just been classed as “sick.” I don’t see hurt as much different. And I am not talking about “Sister so and so gave me attitude or said my dress too short” 🙄 Even though people leave for many trivial reasons, there are also very serious, very real very confusing and painful experiences that I have personally journeyed through with people who have felt the harms of rejection, neglect, spiritual abuse (and so much more) yet somehow still manage not to fall away from Christ Himself. And this is why I have chosen to make mention of this experience. Yeah I risk being categorized but it’s worth it if it means speaking up for those who have left without a voice. Because if I can help one other human feel seen, validated and a little less alone by acknowledging that the very people they hoped would help ended up causing so much pain, then maybe just maybe I can inspire hope in them to keep pursuing God as well as Godly community. I have seen and experienced the ways in which people hurt. But I have also seen and experienced the beautiful ways that God has sent people who heal. Praying that you keep the courage to search until your heart finds that safe place to call home. 🏠 ❤️✝️✨ #christians #church #people #faithtok #hurt
