The part he not telling you is that MOST car deals are a mini in 2025. It is not common to have a 5000 pounder anymore.

Depends on store and region. Main thing is what’s your base pay. When I started we had a draw, most won’t even know what that means.

My old dealer draw us $3000 .1k on the 1st and 15th and we had to pay it back with our commission on the 10th . So basically 1-10 cars you dont make shit until you hit your 11th car. I hated that pay plan.

More mini’s than ever now because dealerships packs get higher and higher and your gross starts after what they’ve pack on cars

I feel like unit vs commission also depends on what brand that you’re with for new car dealerships. Kia, which is what I sell, has like 500-1,000 dollars in the difference from invoice to MSRP and there aren’t a ton of front end products you can sell besides maybe a tracking device. There isn’t a lot of gross in those cars so it might make more sense to be on units. Luxury sales like Mercedes or Lexus has a ton of markups, can put crazy front end add ons on the price, etc etc so you can make way more money on the front end
