Therapists are destroying families. At least… that’s what some headlines and commentators would have you believe. This week, family estrangement is back in the news. Aaron Rodgers has reportedly reconciled with members of his family (which I genuinely celebrate), while others are arguing that therapists are responsible for the rise in adult children going no contact. But I think we’re asking the wrong question. Instead of asking… “Who’s convincing people to leave?” Maybe we should be asking… “Why are so many people willing to lose everything they love?” Because nobody chooses to lose their parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, family traditions, and holidays lightly. In this first episode of Cleave Answers, I unpack why I believe this conversation deserves more nuance than sound bites and headlines. We’ll talk about therapy, accountability, reconciliation, faith, and the questions I think every parent and adult child should be willing to ask. My goal isn’t to take sides. My goal is to help families heal. 🎥 I’d genuinely love to hear from both perspectives: Parents: What do you wish your adult children understood? Adult children: What do you wish your parents understood? Let’s keep this conversation respectful. There are real families—and real pain—on both sides. If this conversation resonates with you, I’d love for you to subscribe. Every week on Cleave Answers, we’ll tackle the biggest conversations surrounding family relationships, boundaries, reconciliation, and faith. 📚 If you’re wrestling with the question of whether you can love someone deeply and have healthy boundaries, my book Christlike Boundaries is linked below. #Famil#FamilyEstrangementd#Boundariesa#TherapyalHealth
