Oh wow! that's the first time I've heard an explanation of powder down feathers. I had no idea some birds only had those and no the oil glands too 👀 Can never know enough abt birds! and explains why some birds are more dusty than others!

My parrot is really good at printing and I never have to do this for him. I’ve had other bird breeds and preened for them but my current one barely ever😭

I preen my bird every time he lets me, and on the last session I discovered a black pin feather (my bird is green with blue and white, black shouldn't be there) and discovered it was liquid-like inside and it fell of really easily when I tried to preen it Should I worry or is it because I left it there for too long without knowing???
