When you say it like that it sounds nice but it would still require big game companies to upload their assets and code to itch, free or paid download that would still be giving up their IP, which I maintain us something companies will not do, they would rather not develop the game altogether

Dungeon defenders (The original) is another perfect example. The game came out in 2010 and still have active discords and communities, hell the devs even let a community team make and run a Redux version too
