My mom is from a village and my dad is from the city. We have an entire valley where my dad's family lives. On my mom's side, the whole village is literally from the same family. There are over 100 people who share blood with me, whether near or far, whether from my mom's or dad's side. I have a scary kinship. The funny thing is when I went to sign up for summer camp. I was staying with my maternal grandmother because I transferred to a school in their area. The counselor told me to stay away from the class because I'm not from the logical side and I don't have the right to take a place on any trip in front of everyone. I felt sad and angry. I was fourteen. I told her that I live here and that everyone I see is my family. I told her that she herself is related to me. In the end, she wouldn't let me sign up. It went on for four years and now I've graduated and I'm still mad. I found out after that that she hated my mom. I think she freaks out about something like this and she takes all her anger out on me. It's annoying when you have relatives all over the place. 😐💔

Sami people are not indigenous to Europe as there isn't even a definition for indigenous for the continent Europe. Europe wasn't survivable for humans most of the time depending on the climate - and humans moved there and then moved away again. Just in the last 10.000 years humans started to settle here. You learn that in School, geography class, over most of Europe ... 🤦🏼♀️

I grew up on a different reservation than where I am enrolled. I went to get my tribal id and was told not to go back and get married. Because between my dad’s side and my mom’s side, I am the y connection line.
