Mine is under the couch. Nothing uses Wi-Fi in my apartment, everything is connected with Ethernet via a switch.

mine is in somewhat center of the house as the living room is pretty much the center of the house and in a cabinet below and to the side of the tv but it doesnt really matter for my pc as im on ethernet

You should have proper access points distributed properly not just a router. Also tvs and streaming devices should be hardwired not on wifi.

I work for a small isp, how do we convince our installers to refuse putting them in clients uninished basements 🤦♂️its been brought up to the higher ups already but so many “slow speed” complaints are really poor signal to devices.

i have 3 APs, 1 on each floor mounted on the ceiling in a zigzag pattern to minimize the signal overlap, i still need to tune signal strength to better roam but in the worse spot of the house i still have 400mbps so its not a rush right now

So in other words… no, you don’t know where my router is and while the furthest of rooms don’t get a strong signal, it’s still not weak and those are the rooms with least internet usage

As a network engineer, my WiFi router is on a shelf in my network rack in the basement, connected to a switch, which is connected to a ESXi server running Ubiquiti server and connected to Ubiquiti APs which are installed in the ceiling on each level of the house for perfect WIFI coverage. So, no, it’s not in a terrible location, it’s in the perfect location. 😉

Mines in the corner of my living room, the connection point is in said corner, and my ethernet cable to my xbox isn't long enough to move the wifi box/console anywhere but the centre ish of the living room 😂, only shit area for wifi is the far side of my flat, nothings going there tho so its fine, will just get a wifi booster if needed, otherwise i have to pay for them to bring cable extenders etc to move the box, cheaper to just buy a booster
