@pinchofmint: 4 Tips to Level up Your Knife Skills. 1. Always make sure you secure your board. To do that, use a damp tea towel or a damp piece of kitchen paper. This will stop your board moving and keep it extra safe. 2. Use the pinch grip. Take your knife and place your index finger on one side of the blade next to the handle. And then place your thumb on the other side. There we go. That's the pinch. Rest the handle in your hand. And then you can chop from there. 3. Master the rocking motion. Place the tip of your knife on your chopping board, holding it with the pinch grip, rock the knife backwards and forwards, keeping contact with the board at all times. 4. The claw. With your other hand, make a claw shape. Keep your fingertips tucked in with your knuckles sticking out. That keeps it safe so your knife can go up against your knuckles to guide the cut without cutting the ends of your fingers off, and nobody wants that. You can also use your thumb as an anchor and gradually move back as you're chopping to work through the vegetable. #knifeskills #cookingtips #howtochop #howtoholdaknife #chopping #kitchenknives #chef #cookingtiktok #cooking

Your cutting technique depends heavily on the knife you use. Cutting with a Sankoku is quite different.

Damp cloths are wasteful! Just get a roll of cupboard shelf liner from a dollar store. Reusable for a very long time. Good video otherwise!
