For villain day, I got a visitor sticker from the office, wrote Karen on it, and proceeded to be rude to everyone that day, even asking to speak to their manager. The kids LOVED it. Cost nothing.

Disagree. Kids who can’t afford or don’t want to dress up have to see they are supported also. I was told this by my mentor teacher 30 years ago and I still believe it.

I have found that in schools that have had super supportive and engaging admin I felt energized to participate in spirit week. The admin at my current school is super toxic and I can’t even fake enthusiasm for spirit week.

This. My 9th graders sometimes pretend they’re too cool for spirit days at first. Granted I’m a teacher who does go all out because I’m extra. But, once they realize that teachers do it too, they start to do it. And they secretly love it.

So much of our staff will not participate and even worse is some of them have made fun of me for participating. Must feel safe for the kids….

100% agree. Our admin never even knew what the spirit days were. A lot of teachers didn’t care, admin didn’t care, and therefor students didn’t care. And morale has been down in our school…. Hmmm wonder why???

I saw a teacher comment that for twin day, they tell their class what they are going to wear so everyone feels like they can have a twin. Minimal effort, huge impact.

I had a teacher that made it her mission every spirit week to somehow wear pajamas each day and make them fit the themes of spirit week. It was impressive.

I have seen even the custodians at my kids schools for spirt week, my kids love seeing the adults be silly with them!

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying at all… but my school literally has 4 spirit weeks through out the year. It is a lot. I do my best but it’s still a lot lol

I had this blue tutu already in my closet and when I wore it…my kids loved/hated it but thought it was hilarious! Every chance I can now, I will wear it proudly!

When we have a spirit day, the entire admin team has coordinated outfits. Our superintendent and assistant principal even went to teacher job fairs dressed as the blue and red Power Rangers. 😂
