I saw a theory saying that it was actually the buildup towards borderlands online since the watcher told Lilith we require many vault hunters. And iirc borderlands online released like a year after pre sequel

I mean…from what we’ve seen, BL3 was literally a giant war across the galaxy…and it seems like BL4 is gonna be an even larger war, with several factions, new planets, and the guardians even seem to be playing a larger part. So..it’s been acknowledged as far as I’m aware.

Update from b4, war is heavily mentioned in the story and the watcher, while not seen, talks to the character and sizes them up to see if they are fit for the war

while bl4 isn’t the war, the war is acknowledge in bl4 and the watcher is still looking for vault hunters so i think it’s safe to assume it’s still happening

The best story line and the only plot line that had my hyped after 2 and they act like it didn’t happen…. Such a shame how much potential was wasted on 3 and every other game failed to make a good story after that.

so im a borderlands fan for the story,IK weird, this is one of the major problems I had with 3. For me it feels like gearbox just wants us to forget that happened, hopefully in 4 its mentioned or tied to it
