It’s not really regal’s fault it’s the film distribution, only the IMAX in 70mm or if it’s a 1:43 ratio will only fill up the entire screen. The next movie that will fill up the entire screen will be Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film

not every movie will utilize this 1.43 screen, because it's hard to film in true IMAX. You'll see when a movie has select 1.43 scenes (Fantastic Four) and when it only has select 1.9 scenes (HTTYD) most of the time, you'll see 1.9, which means that it will expand but not fully. One way to know is if it says Shot with IMAX, which means that it was filmed with IMAX certified cameras, thus the capability of 1.43, or just 1.9. When they say Filmed for IMAX, the movie will have IMAX sound and expanded scenes but usually only up to 1.9

Shot for and filmed with are two different scans. Shot for will have the 1:90 which has slimmer black bars. 1:43 which engulfs the entire screen is the true experience. So movies like interstellar where the movie is in 1:43 3/4s of the run time. It really blows your mind. Just imagine watching next years the Odyssey which was filmed in 65mm imax cameras. Meaning the entire run time will be a full filled screen.

Doesn’t have dual laser imax tho 😔 regal is too cheap to put it in their 1.43 screen theaters like the Dublin one so I have to go to SF to get the full imax experience

so does it not fill the entire way even for 70mm. because superman is only 1.90:1 and that would not be regal fault. 70mm films are 1.43:1

I used to work here and it was a horrible place to work lol they have the ushers do like a million roles and clean the theaters it felt like a stressful time management game

This place was my first ever IMAX experience! Saw Nosferatu and I was blown away. I never thought I'd really care about screen size or fidelity but it was worth it!
