As painful as things are now, I don’t want to go back that illusion of comfort, we were asleep and blind, we were pacified. We NEED to confront everything that is coming to light now or there won’t be any real change. People were able to claim allyship without having to put in any work to be the change, now, actions are more important than anything! We are awake now, and this is just the beginning of reconciliation

You are so right. As someone who was raised in a very white fundemantalist Christian environment, all of the hate that you see under Trump existed YEARS before Trump. Trump just gave them courage to speak in public

Fully agree. We needed Obama for the racists to come out of hiding. Trump has made it necessary for them to loudly claim their allegiances. This shitshow was a blessing in disguise of us who were oblivious to people’s true feelings towards minorities. But Trump def brought out the worst in many Americans

This is 100% how I’ve been feeling. I was taught to always made space for those in my sphere who I don’t necessarily agree with, but that space is gone now. It was a bitter pill to learn about the extent of the dark cruelty that has always festered beneath the surface like mold. The anger I felt after this last contest has pushed me to dive deeper into my own deconstruction through the Antiracism Bookclub. It’s uncomfortable work, but it’s necessary. 💙

I cut my parents off since November. It hurts my soul to know they raised Catholic children and still go to organize religion, but don't follow any of the messaging. They continuously told me I need God in my life… When I am living what they taught me my whole life and they don't see it.
