Amaziɣ Dziri Jazairi Al-Numidi :
The Zirids, originally from what is basically present-day Algeria 🇩🇿, left a distinct architectural legacy marked by the integration of Fatimid (originally originating from Algeria), Persian, and Byzantine elements, and the pioneering use of muqarnas in the Maghreb and Al-Andalus. Their fortified cities, such as Qal'at Bani Hammad in this region, and their role in founding and developing the urban and religious infrastructure of Granada established a crucial cultural and architectural link. Because Fatimid architecture (originally developed in North Africa, specifically Algeria) combined external influences with local traditions, Zirid architecture, as a continuation and adaptation of Fatimid styles, is deeply rooted in the architectural heritage of what is essentially Algeria. Thus, Zirid architecture represents a key chapter in the cultural and architectural connection between this Algerian heartland and Granada, forming the foundations of later Islamic art and architecture in both regions.
