@worldacademicpodcast: We discuss Burkina Faso's decision to shut down a Bill Gates-backed project that released genetically modified mosquitoes to fight malaria. Civil organizations raised concerns about environmental risks and lack of transparency, calling it 'biological colonialism'. Supporters saw it as scientific progress, but the debate continues over the use of genetic modification in public health.#BurkinaFaso #BillGates #GeneticModification #Malaria #PublicHealth

Should it have have been tested in the US instead or what's the argument? research and innovation is what has brought us where we are today and is the only way to face the future. The speed at which people are typing and criticizing is as a result of the very innovation they're fighting. Famine, hunger and disease is still a real danger in Africa and there's no meaning local solutions.
