@productplaybook: Replying to @IO top reasons hiring managers reject candidates, even if they look good on paper: I’ve sat through many hiring committee discussions where we talk in depth about each candidate. when you get an open-ended question, like “tell me about a conflict you faced,” you need to PICK A SUBSTANTIAL example. Highlight the STAKES of the conflict — what was the big problem you were solving? If you didn’t step in, what would have happened? So many candidates pick a conflict or challenge that does not sound that challenging. So we doubt if you’ve had experiences solving the types of hard problems we’ll need to solve on our team.
