James hood :
why use a torque wrench if you're just going to overtorque it😂

Not the right way to use the torque wrench and adapter either.

that is not how you use a torque adapter that nut is way under torqued

Everyone commenting this is the wrong way, Cummins has a valve lash spec margin and it’s actually quite surprising how large the range is, so what he is doing is not incorrect it’s his way of doing things. Also one of the few people I’ve seen torque the jam nut so kudos to hime

This is actually the way Cummins teaches you how to do it when you get certified

You’re using a torque adapter. It either has to be at a right angle, or adjust head length and straight out

this is how I trained the younger generation to do it since they couldn't understand the feel.

When I do it this way and show people online they tell me that I’m doing it too tight

Can he elaborate on the correct way? Assuming he thinks it’s too tight?

Most guys ignore the +- in the lash spec, a little tight a little loose on the feeler is still in spec. There's the by the book way and then there's the by the feel way and both are in spec.

you started with the torque adapter straight then at a slight angle. that changes your torque multiplication.. but by how much I'm not sure

Not accurate torque unless wrench extension is 90*. Or set the torque wrench to accommodate it. Nothing wrong with everything set equally!
