depends where you are shopping. I'm in Massachusetts, about 25 minutes from Boston and I pay $4-$5 per dozen. It's not $9. You might be paying $9 directly in the city, but you need to go shopping just a little farther out!

Market Basket in MA has eggs for around 2.89 a dozen. I think they had a 2 dozen for $5 last week.

Organic, free range eggs can be expensive in the Boston area but for just standard cage free large white eggs at a competitive market you should only being paying $3.99 or so. I just checked a large supermarket chain in the area and that’s what their price is.
