the Bakersfield Sound started long before Buck and Merle..it started with Billy Mize and The Blackboard and the Cousin Herbs tv show...Billy never got the credit he deserved...btw I knew all three personally

Bakersfield don't care about all that. Its the Bakersfield sound for a reason it was made for the crowd that listened to the music locally. They have their place in Country music because it is Country music.

I went to Nashville and was in a tour bus the guide said Bakersfield was not country music it was hillbilly music …. I said then why has Merle, Dwight Buck, ALL WERE HOLDING COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS some of the best country music came right out of Bakersfield

Bakersfield absolutely deserves more notoriety and I have no idea why city leaders haven't given Bakersfield its respect it deserves. Both Moseley and Gruggett who were aloso from Bakersfield and were instrumental in developing guitars that were central to the "Bakersfield Sound,"
