@edwardmalone2: Why is Al Sharpton arguing against straw men and lecturing people two thousand miles away who had nothing to do with the shooting? As Louis Farrakhan reminded Donahue’s audience in 1985, Black people do not have a history of killing whites or seeking revenge against them. I think I understand why Sharpton is doing this. Several years ago, when I was drafting new articles of incorporation for a predominantly Black church in Washington, D.C., the members gave me a copy of their original articles from 1957. In it, the mission statement included a line declaring that the church was against communism. Why would a predominantly Black, Sabbath-keeping church feel compelled to make such a statement? Because it was 1957—the height of the McCarthy era, when the government was conducting witch-hunts and destroying people’s careers. Today we are living through a new kind of McCarthyism, with witch-hunts aimed at anything deemed politically correct, “woke,” or pro-Black. Just as that church in 1957 felt the need to cover itself, Sharpton is engaging in his own form of CYA. #NewMcCarthyism #AlSharpton #CharlieKirk #BlackViolence
