@diabetesdoc: Replying to @Realtreegirl90 At the ADA Conference in Chicago, the FreeStyle Libre just teased that they will soon release an updated version of “Libre by Abbott” app which will add Apple Watch compatibility! However, there are some important caveats to consider: 1. This will be coming to the newer Libre by Abbott app detailed in one of my previous videos, NOT the legacy Libre 2 or Libre 3 app. 2. This will NOT be direct-to-watch, so your iPhone will need to be nearby 3. From the screenshots in the promo imaging, it suggests that it will NOT include a watch face complication (aka Widget). I’m hoping I’m wrong, since this feature is huge. 4. Many people don’t know this, but AID users do 100% of their interaction with the Libre and its data through the pump company software. This means AID users will NOT be able to take advantage of this upcoming Apple Watch integration unless the pump companies build in Apple Watch integration themselves. Of note, here are the Libre 3 Plus pump partners: 1. Beta Bionics iLet 2. Sequel Twist 3. Omnipod 5 (announced) 4. Tandem Mobi and X2 (announced) 5. Medtronic 780G (announced, but will be in a Medtronic branded version of the Libre 3 Plus called “Instinct”) #diabetestechnology #t1d #t2d #cgm #Dexcom

So I’ll keep using Sweet Dreams app for my Apple Watch. It works really nice and smooth and It’s compatible with apple health too.

That’s awesome. The Dexcom showing on my Apple Watch is what keeps me using Apple. Otherwise I’d switch off Apple tbh.

Can you talk a bit about the Libre by Abbott app? Not sure what this app is? I'm still using the Freestyle Librelink app for my Libre 2+ sensor. Is the new app a US only app (not currently available in Denmark) and what is the differences to the old apps?

I think it’s already in the app because when I check mine, it shows up on my Apple Watch via Bluetooth Libre 3+

I was using freestyle Libre. I called them up so many times I said when will make an app that directly goes to your Apple Watch. They always said we’ll take note of it. This was years ago and recently I found out that Dexcom G7 directly links to your Apple Watch. I change straight away and I won’t look back again. It was a game changer for me. It’s so easy. I just walk around with my watch if I need to know my glucose I just look on my wrist. Should’ve been done years ago.

I use the libre 3+ and with gluroo I can see my readings on my Google watch. I do use the newer app by Abbott to be entirely fair, BUT I've enjoyed being able to have the option.

I did a video on this back during the conference. The thing is we have no idea when it will be available. Also, not being a direct to watch setup IMO is really a bad thing. As of right now Dexcom still has a the better setup.

Vague warnings aren't effective. Here's what truly needs to be discussed openly and repeatedly with teen girls: 1. Grooming has a script. Lines like "I'm the only one who understands you" or "don't tell your parents about us" are patterns, not compliments. A girl who recognizes these phrases is better equipped to spot them. 2. Older men need an explanation, not just a rule. Simply saying "don't date someone older" isn't sufficient. Girls need to understand why age gaps can create power imbalances, and that factors like money or experience don't automatically make someone safer. 3. Gifts and favors deserve a question. If someone consistently gives her things while expecting secrecy or attention in return, it's not generosity. Teach her to ask 'why'. 4. Pressure doesn't always look like pressure to a teenager. Phrases like "If you love me, prove it" and "everyone's doing it" are manipulation disguised as romance. She needs to hear this explicitly named. 5. Photos are permanent once sent. If anyone threatens her over a photo, coming to you for help must feel safer than hiding it. 6. Party safety is a checklist, not a lecture. Remind her to never leave a drink unattended, know who she's with, and plan how she's getting home. She should feel safe calling for a ride without fear of punishment. 7. Friendship pressure is often underestimated. Girls sometimes take risks to avoid being excluded. Emphasize that belonging isn't worth sacrificing her safety or values. 8. Give her a safe way to come to you. Telling the truth should never feel like the end of her world. A calm response from you is what will bring her home before situations escalate, not a harsh one. The goal isn't to raise a girl who never makes mistakes, but one who can recognize danger, set boundaries, and knows exactly who to call. These conversations might feel awkward, but they are among the most important things you'll discuss with her this year. #parenting #teengirls #safety #communication #parentingtips
