People are glossing over the fact you had to walk two miles to get potable water because no aid came until 5 days later. This is really disturbing but I’m also extremely impressed with your survival instincts & skills.

I don’t think people realize Helen swung east at 2AM with no warning. It was supposed to hit me, in Northwest Georgia, directly, but it went EAST in the middle of the night with NO WARNING. people weren’t prepared bc they weren’t supposed to get hit.

I'm angry that the state failed the residents! I watched meteorologist warn about historic floods and a foot of rain. I called my family in NETN and fussed at them to get ready to evacuate before the storm.

As someone who works in homeowners insurance, I wish everyone knew that about Flood insurance. Even if you don’t think you need it, it’s so important given the climate crisis.

I’m in Asheville for a friends wedding and didn’t realize it had already been a year till we were on our way. My friend literally just got to move back into her house a week ago. I’m glad yall made it through that crazy storm. 💜
