Spain is incredibly adept at building infrastructure and is probably the best country in Europe at rolling out things like roads, railway lines, even metros and their planning legislation is built for speed too. Unfortunately, that means that if they have a bad idea for infrastructure, that goes from the drawing board to reality just as fast as the good ideas! 😂

Corruption. My street was in perfect conditions, and they rebuilt it for no reason, no plumbing no nothing, they just removed the asphalt and replaced it for new asphalt…

At the height of the 2008 bubble, the construction sector represented 11% of our economy. Cheap construction, easy credit and political corruption, were responsible for this...

Ciudad Real was supposed to be a low cost airport for Madrid/Andaluscia, since it would connect to the high speed train line between Seville-Madrid, but the airport opened without the station ehixh doomed it…

It’s all about Europe Union funds corruption . UE gives half of money. Second half must find Spanish local government. They don’t have money so they take a loan in German bank. Plus some extra to theirs pockets. This is how you bankrupt whole country and make it depend on another Europe Union “help”

UK has 59 airports, we're not much bigger than Spain (population wise). Some of those are quite small though.

They built airports and then held protests saying not to come and spend money in their country.

They actually did this with LOADS of things (hotels/football stadiums were quite big), the financial crash in 2008 really destroyed a lot of the projects but many of the projects were the result of corruption

Corruption. You should ask yourself who owned those lands where all these airports were built... (this also happened with certain high speed rail lines, with stations in the middle of nowhere, but unlike airports these lines are actually quite busy hahaha)
