@rachelrobison: I had a 13 year long 🌽 addiction. Here are 3 things that helped me overcome it: 1. Tell someone who is safe and can cheer you on - don’t allow shame to keep you bound. Shame says we are dirty, gross and too far gone. Shame is a liar. Telling someone I was struggling was terrifying, but having someone who could love and cheer me on was so necessary. Tell someone who loves you, who is safe, who can fight for you! They don’t always need to understand, they just need to have your back. 🩷 2. Understand the patterns you have learned from 🌽 & say no to them. I was only 7 when I was first exposed to 🌽, growing up watching it caused major desensitization & mental health issues. 🌽 creates an illusion, it taught me to submit to violence, and that violence was normal. It was this desensitization that kept me in an ab*sive relationship for a couple years. The narrative 🌽 pushes is harmful. Once I reconized these patterns, and already knew I didn’t align with them, I stood my ground and said no. Not for me, not for my relationships, and especially not for any child. 3. Give yourself grace and find new ways to cope. It was not a one and done quitting process for me. I had really good seasons and then I would relapse again. Once I realized I don’t need to feel shame about my past, the horrible way I would feel after consuming 🌽 wasn’t worth it. Why was I subjecting myself to cosume content that I first hand witnessed cause major harm to my life? I wanted better for me, for my relationships- my future family. I don’t support the narrative 🌽 pushes, I don’t support violence, I don’t support human tr*fficking, I don’t support children being f*tishized. I don’t support any kind of 🌽. In the moments I really struggled as I started to quit, I would physically walk around my apartment/ outside. Call a friend and just talk about anything. I had to force myself to do something else, I would leave sticky notes around my room encouraging myself. Journal my feelings when I was struggling. I had to become very aware of what I was looking for, 🌽 could not fill a gap in my life- it would only create gaps. I didn’t want to live that way! It takes alot of bravery, grace and discipline, it was hard. But now being on the other side, 5 years later, it was worth it. I believe in you and you are safe here! You can be free from 🌽. A life 🌽 free is a life worth fighting for. I used to think I would always struggle, and that is not true. You can do it! If you are looking for a safe space, this is for you! #fypシ #🌽addiction #recovery #🌽 #mystory

I don’t even know why I do it. I hate it. I’m disgusted and disappointed with myself for it but I can’t shake it and I hate that.

I keep saying it's my last but yet I keep repeating it. I found a way to cope but the temptation. It's like a instinct but with your words I hope I can fix myself thank you.

just talked to my parents about my struggles, having even one or more people holding you accountable helps so much! It’s truly not talked about enough how women also struggle with this. just know your helping so many people out with this!!
