@itsmaggieperkins: When I look back and reflect on how exhausting teaching was, it’s absolutely striking. The way people feel when they’re recovering from the flu, is how I felt all the time as a teacher. I absolutely could have at any moment. Slept for 16 hours as a teacher. Now, even in the midst of a challenging week, I do not ever feel the way I did even during a normal week as a teacher. #formerteacher #teachersoftiktok #teacherquittok #corporatetiktok #careerchange
Friday nights for me as a teacher in my 20s: passing out on the couch at 6:45 with a half-eaten container of nachos on my lap. (No alcohol involved, just pure exhaustion.)

The way your hair and makeup still looks amazing and its the end of the day, that really gives away that you are no longer a teacher 😂

As a former teacher 10000% agree. One day I had a really hard day at work, the worst I had at this new job. My husband joked that that was me on a normal good day of teaching. He was right

As a teacher, I dealt with SI, migraines, and an ED. In corporate, I’m personally thriving and just casually sleepy.

I taught from the age of 24-27 and I’m so glad I got the hardest job I will ever have out of the way so young. I complain about being bored at work now, what a blessing!

Yesss! 2 months ago I left 18 years of Education as a Teacher and High School Counselor and started in Corporate. There is absolutely no comparison. My hardest week and flying weekly is nothing compared to Education. No one outside of Education who hasn’t been there will never understand the stress, anxiety and health problems that come along with it.

I’ve witnessed beautiful young people enter into the professional age so rapidly in five years due to the atress of the job. Should not be that way.

I'm honestly shocked I'm still alive with the number of times I've fallen asleep behind the wheel driving to and from work. I teach middle schoolers.

I’ve spent half my life teaching at this point. It’s all I’ve ever known. And I’m really good at it. But it is an exhaustion like no other.

Currently 8 years into teaching and my hair is falling out, my anxiety is off the charts, and my doctor said I’m on the road to thyroid issues. This job has exhausted me and has mentally and now physically destroyed me. And the sad fact is I don’t know where to go or what to apply for outside of the school setting.

Yes!! I'm still able to get home and do laundry, cook, and other things. I'm not even close to be mentally drained. I may have had to take a pay cut but my mental health is way better!

Anyone who thinks you “weren’t cut out for it” just needs to read through the comments. Teacher tired is a thing - I’m in year 35. Glad you got out while your family is young!

I went the other way from corporate to teaching and I can confirm. Exhausting. I’m no good to anyone at all some evenings. Other days I just need a nap to bounce back.

Year 27 and I’m dead to the world. I have one year left and I’m not sure I can do it. Will I even be the same person? Will I need to sleep the first year of retirement to recover?
