I think what people are upset about is the quality of Derek’s physique, the oil injections in his Lats and the arm genetics as well as the conditioning level is just disappointing to most people. There does seem to be a big difference in waist size, conditioning and shape of today’s standards(yes the lighting is different).

Phil is like 8cm taller, Derek would beat him in front lat spread and that's pretty much it and Phil never had weird bumps all over his body, and watery arms, just different class of bodybuilder.
