She literally said that the lad was private property.....and the banks. No mention of the water. Water is NOT private.

Lady has a point… the bank which goes from one side to the other is actually private… & your stepping on it. You should been on a dinghy or kayak to use your logic. If she owned only one side of the bank, than it would be measured to the lowest point of the river, during the year, adjacent to her property.

States have different laws regarding this . Some state that the point where the land is dry is private and the river bed is public . others state the river bed is also private property

Looks to navigable! A waterway is navigable if it is:
• Capable of being navigated by small craft (canoe, kayak, raft), at least seasonally
• Used or capable of being used as a public route, even historically
• Not just theoretical—practical usability matters If the waterway is navigable:
You may:
• Stand on the riverbed
• Walk in the river
• Portage around obstacles (briefly, where reasonably necessary)
• Fish (with license and compliance with regs)
A landowner cannot legally claim trespass merely because:
“You’re standing in the river on my property”
