If you're sitting up in bed to feed overnight, or getting up and going to another room at 3am... this one's for you. 🤍 I see it constantly. And I saw it again just this week with a mum of a two-week-old. Every single night, she was getting out of bed, going to the lounge, and sitting upright in the recliner to feed. Over and over, all night long. And she was so exhausted that she'd started falling asleep in the recliner by accident. Here's the part that really matters: falling asleep on a couch or a recliner is actually far more dangerous than falling asleep in your own bed, on a firm mattress, set up safely. So think about which one gets you more rest. Getting out of bed, changing the nappy, going to the lounge, sitting in the recliner, feeding, going back to bed, then transferring your baby and praying they don't wake? Or... staying lying down, sliding your baby close, popping out a boob, feeding, and both of you barely even waking? When we got her set up to feed lying down in bed, safely, she said the exact thing I hear every single time:

Or... staying lying down, sliding your baby close, popping out a boob, feeding, and both of you barely even waking? When we got her set up to feed lying down in bed, safely, she said the exact thing I hear every single time: "this is going to be a game-changer." Because now, instead of hauling herself out of bed all night, she rests. And because her bed is set up safely, if she does drift off, she's in a far safer place than that recliner ever was. That's the bit no one tells you. Done properly, it's not just more restful. It's often safer than the exhausted-in-a-recliner situation so many of us end up in by accident. I'm covering exactly how to do all of this in my breastfeeding lying down series right now, the intro and setup are up, and the latch is next. Follow along so you don't miss it. But tell me first, where do you feed your baby overnight? Sitting up, getting out of bed, or lying down? I'd love to know. 👇 #breastfeeding #ibclc #sidelyingfeeding #safesleep #cosleeping
