@c_buildingquietwealth: Maximize your TSP wealth. Most government and military employees overlook maximizing their TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) by simply leaving all their money allocated into a target date fund based on their estimated date of retirement. Don’t do this! Depending on your age and time til retirement you’ll make way better returns in other funds in your early and mid-career. Then as you get closer to retirement you can be more conservative. Here’s how I went from barely beating inflation in my TSP, starting from $0, to over $400K and an average rate of return of 14.4%. #investmenttips #militaryfinance #PersonalFinance #wealthbuilding
Can you post a tutorial video on how to complete this in the system

I’m in L 2055 100%. Had a 23.64% gain for 2025, no complaints here! I’m 5 years in and in my 30’s

Very important to not put 100% into Roth or you lose the matching contributions.

100% C! I got plenty of time before retirement to rebound if market drops. #FeedThatTSP

Moved 25% of my TSP into the mutual fund window and doubled my TSP. I wish we could move more into the outside funds.

Keep in mind that more risk, more returns… as you get older less risk is a better strategy in my opinion.

Target funds are okay but I prefer majority in C and a small % in S & I.

Thank you! I actually had scheduled a consult to maximize my TSP benefits that was offered to us for free and it was absolutely not helpful😅 they only seemed interested in those retiring very soon. This video made up for my wasted 5 min phone call!

Why not just use the L fund that coordinates with the year you plan to retire on or closest to? It’s already got the “professional mixture” of the 5 main funds PLUS each quarter that passes by, more of your money will be redistributed to the G Fund so that the closer you get to retirement, the majority of your money is not at risk in the market. So if you like simplicity, a “professional mixture”, and putting your TSP money on “auto pilot” use the L fund and call it day.

At least they put them into a lifetime fund automatically now. When I started it automatically went to G Fund. So many of my coworkers have never looked into their TSP 🤦♀️

I’ve been waiting on a TSP video! Thank you. I contribute 10% but recently paid off some debt and would love to know if I should invest in the Roth TSP option or something else.
