@themedical_lounge: Headache at the Crown? Here’s Why It’s a Huge Red Flag… A headache felt right at the vertex, the crown of the head, isn’t your typical tension or migraine pattern. This area is supplied by the upper cervical nerves (C1–C3), which also relay pain from deep intracranial structures. When they’re irritated, or when the meninges or venous sinuses are under pressure, the pain can localise sharply to the top of the skull. That’s why vertex pain can hint at serious problems like raised ICP, meningitis, venous sinus thrombosis, subarachnoid haemorrhage, or cervicogenic headache from the upper C-spine. Learn. Adapt. Respond. #paramedicstudent #prehospitalcare #medicaleducation #neurology #headache
