I use the bench grinder, got the feel for getting the right angles after a while. If you can do it, don't tell the neighbour's because I made the mistake of letting my neighbour seeing me sharpen my bit then he started bringing me his blunt and broken bits, then he told other neighbours...

Just in my own experience I will say i have had the best luck indexing and just snugging the holder in the indexer then removing it and tightening up the chuck. bent one of the indexer arms once and it was never right again when it slipped as i was tightening it. most likely operator errorso since ive snugged removed and tightened. Just my experience.

I have always done it by hand on a bench grinder, angle grinder, belt sander or whatever else l have to grind with.

The joys of being a simple wood butcher. Drill bits don’t have to be razor sharp when you’re only drilling into dead trees.

I find them pretty useless, they never seem to sharpen very well

I’ve herd that using pure water for cooling when drill stainless is the best, I’m drilling through refrigerated shipping containers though just interested in your thoughts

Saved thousands in replacement bits because of these drill dr’s definitely worth the $400-600 depending on model

Do it by hand on a bench grinder, always better than a try hard machine.

The white notch allows you to set the pitch too. You can sharpen left and right drill bits. Often people miss that bit of it and set it up in the indexer with a reverse pitch.

A good quality drill is why it drills so quick though that thick metal or would a cheap quality drill peace do the same.

Not a perfect sharpen, but better than throwing bits out like what the young fellas seem to like doing.

Can you sharpen a drill bit on a bench grinder? If so which process would you rather? Drill dr or bench grinder? I’ve only ever used a bench grinder and just curious which one you’d prefer.
