The psychological battle of wits in Death Note remains one of the most compelling narratives in the history of manga because it masterfully explores the corrupting nature of absolute power through the eyes of Light Yagami a brilliant high school student who stumbles upon a supernatural notebook dropped by a bored Shinigami named Ryuk.
