Tighter than that my guy. This is why I change my own oil whenever possible. That filter works loose, your engines dead, that technician doesn't care if your engine was killed.

Yeah my last two oil changes I had dine were "hand tight" which left me with a loose and leaking filter twice. Hand tight and a quater turn with a wrench prevents leaks.

I do it by the instructions stated in the workshop manual and the oil filter like toyota ones are till it touches then 3/4 of a turn and the gaskets are pre lubed

seriously i keep seeing these videos of people complaining that mechanics are tightening these filters too tight when in reality the heat from the engine will cause them to get siezed on there all the time

there is instructions on the side of filter usually 2/3 or 3/4 once gasket makes contact. not hard at all

Oh, they still get tight after even being hand snugged my guy. I change my own oil in all my rigs. And I always have to bring out the filter wrench for the next oil change
