Every Saturday, now that my deadlifts are getting properly heavy, I wake up with that little voice in my head asking, “how exactly am I going to survive this today?”😅 While I’m getting ready, my brain suddenly becomes incredibly creative at trying to negotiate a way out of training. Maybe I’m too tired. Maybe I didn’t sleep enough. Maybe I should take a “smart deload day” that I absolutely did not plan. Funny thing is, I can never actually justify skipping. So I make the same deal with myself every time: just go, do what you can, no pressure, no drama. And without fail, every single time I show up, I end up smashing my deadlifts anyway. It’s honestly one of the best reminders that your thoughts are NOT always telling you the truth. Doubt is loud, but performance is built on showing up regardless. The 190kg singles felt surprisingly light today🥲 which is exactly why I keep saying this: the only way to find out what you’re capable of is to try.
