Nah, I'm sorry, but basketball hoops without nets are actually the worst. People act like it's not a big deal, but it completely changes how the game feels. Every time you make a shot, there's no swish sound, no satisfying moment, and it almost feels like the shot didn't even go in. The swish is honestly one of the best parts of basketball. You can hit the cleanest shot of your life and without a net it just feels weird. The hoop also looks so much better with a net. A hoop without one always looks old, broken, or like nobody has touched the court in years. Even if the rim is perfectly fine, it just looks unfinished. When I pull up to a court and see a hoop with no net, I already know it's not going to feel the same. And chasing the ball gets annoying fast. Sometimes the ball just flies off in a random direction after going through the rim, especially if you're practicing by yourself. It doesn't sound like a huge problem until you've had to run after the ball a hundred times. What really gets me is when people say, "A net doesn't affect the game." Maybe technically it doesn't change the rules, but it definitely changes the experience. It's like playing a video game with no sound effects. You can still play, but something important is missing. The net makes every shot feel rewarding. It gives you that little moment where you know you made a good shot. I'm not saying I won't play on a hoop without a net. If that's all there is, I'll still play. But if you give me two identical courts and one has nets while the other doesn't, I'm picking the one with nets every single time. The game just feels better, looks better, and sounds better. That's why basketball hoops without nets will never be as good as hoops that actually have them.
