Interesting you are right, but one thing concerns me you assume MMs have short inventory only? That’s wrong premise dealers aren’t directionally short they warehouse whatever flow lands on them and flatten delta in milliseconds their book is long gamma, short vega most of the time because the world keeps dumping premium into index calls and covered-call etfs

So I would assume that the MM short put long call comes from the assumption that most call volume is covered calls, and most put volume is protective hedging.
