Young hoe (male edition) here who has lately stopped cooking everything on high and realizing that omg my food tastes so much better these days. And it wasn’t even bad before! That’s why I always did it! But now I know that you can actually make things great instead of good enough if you just wait a little longer.

I think there’s something deep about the analysis of being in a rush - but as someone who chronically cooks on high and burns her food… I fear it’s because I do not have the emotional bandwidth to cook, then my stomach starts hurting, then I have to cook, and now I’m rushing to finish because I’m starving. So maybe it’s also a commentary on how capitalism robs us of our time and burns us out too. 😭

the way my dad used to just turn the heat down when I was cooking something when I was learning to cook taught me so much about taking my time and thinking.

Using stainless steel pans will force you to do this lol I’m a much better cook now that I have a mostly plastic free kitchen! Unexpected positive consequence

Dinner should take an entire hour to eat. That doesn’t mean you eat more. We don’t respect the process. We don’t honor the harvest.
