To be an efficient vegan, you have to support industrial agriculture. Industrial agriculture kills animals too, sometimes in staggering numbers depending on the crop, the region, and the farming method. That innocent head of lettuce did not descend from heaven on a cruelty-free cloud. It came from a field where animals were displaced, poisoned, shredded, or starved out. Then there is the runoff. More large-scale agriculture means more fertilizer, more pesticide, more poisoned waterways, and more wrecked ecosystems. If an entire nation practiced veganism through the same industrial food machine we already use, it would not become Eden. It would become a salad bar built on ecological wreckage. And then, for the grand finale, we arrive at the deranged historical funhouse: Hitler reportedly favored a future without meat, so naturally every vegan is now a Nazi. Also, veganism supposedly reduces melanin, because apparently kale is now a racial whitening agent. Bravo, pro-Nazi vegans. Bravo.
