Here is the explanation in English: What is "Potato Graphics" in Fortnite? "Potato Graphics" in Fortnite refers to lowering the game's graphic settings to the absolute minimum. This makes the game look extremely basic and low-res, almost like a game from the early 2000s or running on a literal "potato." 1. Why is it called "Potato Graphics"? The term comes from a popular gaming meme where weak, slow, or outdated computers/consoles are jokingly compared to a "potato." When you strip away all high-end visual details so a weak PC can run the game, you get "potato graphics." 2. What does the game look like? Buildings & Terrain: Structures, rocks, and trees look smooth, blocky, or made of play-doh/plastic with zero textures (Low Poly). Skins & Characters: Character models lose sharp details, facial expressions, and high-res clothes. Lighting & Shadows: Dynamic lighting, reflections, and shadows are completely turned off. VFX & Grass: Grass, motion blur, and detailed explosion effects disappear. 3. Why do players use it? Even players with top-tier high-end PCs often choose to play with potato graphics. Here is why: Maximized FPS (Frames Per Second): Lower graphics drastically reduce the load on the GPU and CPU, providing much higher and more stable frame rates (144 FPS, 240 FPS, or higher). Lower Input Lag: Higher FPS and lower graphic processing mean faster mouse/keyboard response times, which is crucial for fast building and editing. Better Visual Clarity: Removing shadows, dense grass, and flashy visual effects makes enemy players significantly easier to spot across the map. Accessibility for Low-End PCs: It allows older or budget hardware to run the game smoothly without freezing or stuttering. 4. How do you enable it in Fortnite? Fortnite has an official mode built directly into the game for this: Open Settings > Video tab. Scroll down to Rendering Mode and change it to Performance Mode (Lower Graphical Fidelity).
THE IRAN WAR IS CHANGING GLOBAL CARBON EMISSIONS. An unexpected consequence of the ongoing conflict with Iran is a projected decline in global fossil-fuel CO₂ emissions in 2026, according to an analysis published by The Washington Post on September 24. Here's what's happening: Disruptions to oil and natural gas production and transportation have driven up energy prices and reduced global consumption. As a result, countries and consumers are using less oil and gas than analysts originally anticipated. Earlier this year, global fossil-fuel CO₂ emissions were projected to increase in 2026. However, updated energy forecasts now suggest emissions could fall approximately 0.5% below 2025 levels. The Washington Post estimates that the latest emissions outlook is approximately 472 million metric tons of CO₂ lower than the projections made in January. That's roughly equivalent to the annual emissions of 103 million gasoline-powered cars. There is an important catch: Higher natural gas prices have also encouraged some countries to burn more coal, partially offsetting the reductions in oil and gas emissions. And while lower emissions could slow the accumulation of CO₂ in the atmosphere, this does not mean global warming has stopped or that the conflict represents a long-term climate solution. The bigger question is whether reduced fossil-fuel consumption will continue after the conflict ends or whether emissions will rebound as energy markets recover.
