A Massachusetts State Police investigator testified that detectives discussed a theory about whether a psychologist influenced Lindsay Clancy before she told her husband she had heard voices. Sgt. Daniel Lawlor was stationed outside Clancy’s hospital room when psychologist Dr. Paul Zeizel met with her. Lawlor testified that he could not hear their conversation but later learned Clancy used Zeizel’s phone to call Patrick Clancy and said she had heard voices. On cross-examination, Lawlor confirmed that investigators later discussed whether Zeizel was the reason Clancy made that statement. But he also agreed there was no investigative basis supporting that idea and characterized it as another investigator’s speculation.
