this is why I like the idea of cross training. I was a Service advisor and Parts Advisor before mechanic and it really helps when people are busy or need help.

Cars have way to many amps and these days to just "repair" a wire. If you "repair" a wire your adding in two points of connection which is basically two new resistors no matter how slick you are. Next thing you know the dash lights are flickering. Dont do wire "repairs" on newer cars

When I was the lead tech at the local small Chrysler dealer for 7 years I spent almost half my day helping parts so everyone got the right parts. I never asked for a vin. Could figure out the part they needed by the year and trim package. Saved a lot of time and headaches that way.
